Among Avatar's most beloved installments receives an exclusive Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair.
Usually, recap episodes are disliked by fans as a needless waste of time, or sometimes tolerated as a requirement in television during the period of regular broadcasts. That wasn't always the situation, and Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this via "The Ember Island Players," a popular episode in its last season that is now getting a dedicated Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop.
Highlights about the Secret Lair
The full Secret Lair superdrop for the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender edition was revealed recently. It features five distinct sets, and even though a set named "My Cabbages!" is clearly amusing nod to Avatar's most famous minor character, the other collections feel a bit less imaginative, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players."
Inspired by the seventeenth episode from season 3 of the beloved series, this Secret Lair contains these specific cards:

- 1x Mask of Memory

Why this installment stands out
Viewers of the series fondly remember this episode, which acted as a summary of the protagonist Aang and his companions' adventure prior to the final episode. In contrast to other recap episodes, or "clip shows," "The Ember Island Players" was not driven by budget restrictions or production issues. The creators truly wanted to offer viewers a moment to reflect on the show's narrative, however, they opted to approach it inventively.
During the installment, the heroes view a play depicting their exploits at a playhouse located on Ember Island, called The Boy in the Iceberg. The play itself is factually incorrect, cheesy, and completely amusing. It succeeds since it plays with the heroes' understanding about themselves, juxtaposing them against how the world (and especially the Fire Nation) views them. It has an ideal level of meta-commentary, and it results in perhaps the best adaptation of the show we have had.
Worth and cost
In terms of value, this offers a fantastic Secret Lair because of one major element: Braid of Fire. This specific card sells between $20 and $40 on online marketplaces currently, while for $29.99 you can acquire the complete collection, or alternatively $39.99 for the shiny edition.
Magic's Avatar: The Last Airbender edition will be available during early access events starting November 14 and launches globally on November 21.
