It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
