White House Accused of Assault on Freedom of Expression Following UK Reporter Detained

The prominent Muslim civil rights organization has alleged the present leadership of a “blatant insult to freedom of expression” after national border officials detained British journalist Sami Hamdi this past Sunday.

The group stated that Hamdi was taken into custody at San Francisco airport due to speaking out against the Israeli ongoing military campaign in the Gaza Strip. He is part of a group of persons who have been arrested and removed by federal agents for sharing pro-Palestine views.

DHS officials announced that the journalist’s visa had been canceled, and that he was in custody “awaiting deportation.”

Immigration Authorities Holds British Journalist After Comments of Israeli Policies

British journalist Sami Hamdi was reportedly detained Sunday by federal immigration authorities at a major US airport, and the organization asserts that action is clear punishment for the Muslim commentator’s comments of Israeli actions while touring the US.

A statement from the group said it was “a blatant affront to free speech” to hold Hamdi for condemning Israel’s ongoing military operations in the Gaza region while he engaged on a speaking tour. A government representative stated in a different announcement that Hamdi is facing deportation.
